LEARNING OUTCOMES
Know the different types of fire extinguishers
Know when you should and should not tackle a fire with an extinguisher
Learn about the different techniques for using extinguishers

ABOUT THIS COURSE
There are five different classes of fire, each identified by a letter; these are A, B, C, D, and F.

It’s vital that people know what to do before tackling a fire. After the fire alarm has been raised and the risks have been assessed with tackling the fire, employees then need to work by the ONE FIRE, ONE EXTINGUISHER rule - if they think it’ll take more than one extinguisher to put out the fire, it’s too big to tackle and they need to evacuate immediately.

This Fire Extinguisher Training will ensure that if learners find a fire to be small enough to tackle with one fire extinguisher, that they know what kind of fire extinguisher should be used for each fire, what class of fire it is, and the safety measure to take when using an extinguisher.

This fire awareness training in education eLearning course only provides awareness education. Face to face training would be needed in addition in order to complete all-round skills and knowledge to be able to carry this forward practically in your organisation.

Every member of staff legally requires some kind of Fire Awareness Training which is why we also offer Fire Awareness Training and Fire Warden Training.

WHY IS THIS TRAINING IMPORTANT?
COMPLIANCE
It's important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.
Equipment will include the use of fire extinguishers. Fire and Health and Safety legislation also requires employers to provide fire training for all staff by law. It's good practice for employers to train staff at least every 12 months.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, states that the responsible person must ensure that their employees are provided with adequate safety training.

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 is there to make sure there are high standards of health and safety at work and that employees and the public are protected from anything related to work activities. This includes driving. Everyone has a duty to comply with the Act and if you drive unsafely at work, even if you’re driving your own car both you AND your employer can be prosecuted. You also have a responsibility to ensure that others are not put at risk by your work-related driving activities.
